Bread sellers at Nsawam in the Eastern Region on Friday staged a protest along the Suhum-Kumasi Highway and also appealed to the President not to re-nominate the Acting MCE, Isaac Buabeng for the area.

According to the protestors who are made of bread sellers and bakers, the acting MCE who was in the role till his term expired after January 7, 2020, has failed them and is also not on good terms with the MP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

They said they have heard that the Dan Botwe report has recommended one Emmanuel Owusu Arthur, who they want and not the acting MCE. Their choice of Mr Arthur is because they say “he is humble and hardworking which implies that he can hand in hand” with Frank Annor Dompreh who is the Member of Parliament for the area.

“It is for our well-being that we’re speaking. No one hate you Nana. Kindly listen to our plea and grant us our heart desire. We don’t want Buabeng because he didn’t help the MP at all. Please listen to us and give us what we want and we will receive it with a gladdened hearts so that in the next election we will stand boldly and vote for yo,” one of the protesters appealed.

Another added,”We are really suffering here. We are suffering in almost everything. We suffer during campaign, voting and even in selling. We are yet to see the benefits of our votes. The government should do something here so we can know our votes also count”.

They threatened to campaign against the NPP come 2024 if the President went ahead to renominate the acting MCE, Mr Isaac Buabeng as the Municipal Chief Executive.
