The 1.2 million Moderna Covid-19 vaccines received from the United States government are scheduled to be administered by the Ghana Health Service from next week.

The service revealed that the training of personnel on how the vaccine is supposed to be used will end across the 16 regions this week.

Dr Kwame Amponsa Achiano, programs manager for the Expanded Programme on Immunization at the Ghana Health Service also revealed that this phase of inoculation will target persons 18 years and above.

Date to commence the exercise is still in discussion and will be communicated later next week where other available vaccines will also be deployed.

Ghana took delivery of some 249,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines a few weeks ago from the UK government to boost its vaccination drive.

Despite a slow start to the vaccine rollout when it initially commenced, the government still remains resolute to vaccinating 20 million Ghanaians by the end of 2021. Ghana has so far secured over 3.2 million doses of vaccine.
