A woman and her baby have died from a landmine that exploded in a field where she was working. Nine members of the local community in the Northern Department of Antioquia have died in the landmine in the last year and six months.

The mines were created by Antioquia Gold Ltd, a Columbian company. Officially up and running sometime  2017/19, designed to be a high-grade mine with a water treatment plant and expected to produce 30 – 40,000oz gold yearly for 6 years duration.

Antioquia Gold Ltd workers deaths are as a result of the crude explosive devices that were buried in many of the rural areas by paramilitary groups during Columbia’s decades of armed conflict devastating the indigenous.
