Legon Cities board chairman hosts football gala to mark his birthday

Richard Kings Atikpo, the Board Chairman of Legon Cities Football Club celebrated his birthday last Sunday, the 17th of July with a special football gala competition in the Jasikan District of the Oti Region.

The event saw a gathering of hundreds of youth from various communities in the Region participate in the event which lasted for two days and aimed at using sports to promote unity in the area.

Richard, a member of the Council of State for the Oti Region used the occasion to underscore the impact of sports on society and its benefits to the region. He believes in the sports talents in the region and hopes all of them can be nurtured for the good of the region and beyond.

Hon. Atikpo promised to make the event a permanent fixture in the region with a view to expanding to cover all other areas in the region aside from Jasikan.

All participating teams were given various prizes for their efforts with the winner taking home the ultimate prize of the gala.

As part of the activity, 400 people from both the Jasikan and Guan districts were enrolled on the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Likpe Alavanyo, a deprived community in the area also benefited from the generosity of the football chief as he provided them with a mechanized borehole. He is also set to renovate some educational facilities in the region that have dilapidated structures.
