Five new boys named in Black Stars squad for Brazil and Nicaragua friendlies

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named his squad for the friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua this month and there is something beyond the regular.

Five new faces have been added to the squad which will use the September FIFA break to test its preparedness for the World Cup in November.

Included in the squad are Tariq Lamptey of Brighton and Hove Albion who was in the Cape Coast stadium to support the team in an AFCON qualifier against Madagascar when Kudus Mohammed, Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari led the Stars to a 3-0 win.

Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao is also included as well as Stephan Ambrosius of 2. Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC. Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer who plays in the German second tier league Hamburger SV has also received his maiden call up as well as Southampton defender Salisu Mohammed who has on several occassions turned down the opportunity to play for the Black Stars will hope to make his debut now as he has also been offered a place in the squad.

Hearts of Oak sensation Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has played his way also into the squad after leading the Black Galaxies charge to qualify for the 2023 CHAN at the expense of bitter rivals Nigeria. He will be looking forward to continuing his quest to be called up for the World Cup by impressing in the friendlies.

Regular faces such as Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Kudus Mohammed, Daniel Kofi-Kyereh and Kamaldeen Sulemana are in the squad.

Also included are Benjamin Tetteh, Felix Afena-Gyan, Joseph Aidoo, Daniel Amartey, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Baba Rahman, Alidu Seidu, Alexander Djiku and Denis Odoi.

The rest are Osman Bukari, Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Iddrisu Baba and goalkeeping trio of Jojo Wollacott, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen and Richard Ofori.

Ghana will play Brazil at Le Havre – France on Friday, September 23, 2022 before taking on Nicaragua four days later in Spain.
