We cannot honour such a man – NDC youth organizer gives reasons for International Youth Day boycott
Mr George Opare Addo National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress during an interview on Citi TV clarified that the NDC youth did not boycott the youth day celebrations but celebrated it in their way.
Further justifying their decision not to honour the National Youth Authority’s invitation to commemorate the youth day he said, “We will not be part of a programme to honour a man that has mortgaged our future, and plundered the economy into crisis”.
Mr Opare Addo said President Akufo-Addo did not deserve to be honoured by the youth so it was not right and they[NDC youth] were not ready to be part of it, adding, “The man you are going to honour does not deserve to be honoured. I will not to be part of a process to honour such a man”.
Assessing the government’s policy programs targeted at the youth so far with focus on the Free Senior High School, Mr Opare Addo said they have not condemned the Free SHS policy but have a problem with how it is being implemented.
Regarding the other youth-oriented policies he took a swipe at the government for ending the Nation Builders Corps program and asking the beneficiaries to go home without any package and accused the government of creating fanciful names for programs that it ends up not implementing them well.
