NEC to meet Alan, Bawumia and co to douse tension ahead of presidential primaries

A meeting has finally been scheduled between the National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party and those nursing the ambition of succeeding President Akufo-Addo at the end of his tenure to curb the incidence of going against the party’s rules.

This meeting was occasioned by recent incidents where some party-leading faithful continuously declare their stance and public choose who should lead the party in the lead-up to the 2024 polls.

Topmost of the issues is the controversial health walk by loyalists of aspiring presidential candidate, Allan Kyeremanteng.

The said walk drew all sorts of opinions from both party members and political watchers as according to the party this activity was against the rules of the party in preparation for their much-anticipated primaries.

Mr Kyeremanteng has also received a letter from the party regarding the conduct of his supporter’s disregard for party rules.

A leading party member and former New Patriotic Party Parliamentary aspirant for the Kpone-Katamanso constituency, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye was invited by the National Complaints Committee concerning this same issue to answer questions about some controversial remarks he made during the said walk.

A word of caution was also sent out by General Secretary of the party Justine Koduah advising party faithful against the open declaration of support for presidential hopefuls.
