As a measure to bring some discipline into the party, the New Patriotic Party has warned that it will not tolerate any form of violence that will disrupt the Electoral Area Coordinators’ elections.

The said polls are scheduled for March 18th to 20th as part of the process of restructuring the party.

Unfortunately in some areas, the polling station elections turned chaotic due to some misunderstandings on the album to be used. some have become legal tussles leading to injunctions being placed on the elections in some areas.

General Secretary of the party, John Boadu, advised disgruntled party members to use party structures to resolve their grievances.

“The party equally wishes to appeal to its rank and file who may be aggrieved in the course of the exercise to use the laid down time tested grievance procedures of the party to seek redress.”

“This is the only party we have, and we owe it to our forbears and our conscience to protect and defend the good name of the party at all times,” Mr Boadu said.

His advice comes on the back of a visit to some aggrieved NPP members numbering about 60 from the Kwadaso constituency who picketed at their party’s headquarters in Accra to petition their national leaders over issues they had with the recent polling station executive elections.

The demonstrators complained that the Chairperson for the constituency’s polling station elections, Gifty Ohene Konadu, breached the party’s constitution in the conduct of the polling station executive elections in the area.

In the same vain the Elmina Magistrate Court also placed an injunction on the NPP polling station elections ongoing in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abram (KEEA) constituency of the Central Region on Thursday.

After a misunderstanding regarding the dates to start the various polls.

This lead the three plaintiffs, who are also aspiring polling station executives, to take the issue to court, to pray the court to prompt the Election Committee to re-draw a timetable for the elections and announce publicly for the benefit of all interested stakeholders.
