The new faces to lead NPP to break the 8

In a closely contested election with over 6,000 delegates and 45 aspirants for positions at the National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party, several incumbents have been booted out with just a couple retaining their places.

All newly elected NPP national executives have been sworn in to help steer the affairs of the party towards the 2024 national elections with the party’s focus on ‘Breaking the 8’. The party saw 40 candidates vie for 10 positions where eight slots were filled by fresh candidates while the other two slots thus the national women’s organiser and Nasara coordinator retained their positions

The men and women to lead the elephant family for the next four years include a veteran of the party Stephen Ayensu Ntim who has contested for the position of the chairman on four occasions in the last 20 years and lost on each of those occasions before his fifth attempt on Saturday saw him emerge with a landslide victory. He saw off his closest contender and namesake Stephen Asamoah Boateng to lead the party.

Mr Ntim will be assisted by 1st Vice Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey and second and third Vice Chairpersons Rita Talata Asobayire and Alhaji Maswudu Osman respectively.

General Secretary John Boadu was booted out by the delegates despite 15 regional chairmen of the party declaring their support for him and his replacement is Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua.

Some of the new National Executives are Henry Nana Boakye who reliquinshed his position as Youth Organizer in the previous administration to clinch the role of the National Organizer, Kate Gyamfua and Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa who retained their positions as the National Women Organizer and the Nasara Coordinator respectively.

The rest are Salam Mohammed Mustapha as National Youth Organizer and Dr Charles Dwamena, a former Deputy Ambassador to China as the National Treasurer.
