Mr Gabby Otchere Darko, former director of the Danquah Institute has called for the rejection of African presidents who massage the constitution to remove term limits in order to benefit from them while urging Africa as a continent not to agree with people who plot coup in any circumstance.

He reiterated this by urging the African continent to take a strong stance on these two issues; stand against presidents amending constitution to take off term limits and not to tolerate coup makers at all under any circumstance noting that if such persons are tolerated then we set ourselves back as a people.

He said this ahead of the Economic Community Of West African States, ECOWAS summit on issues in Guinea scheduled to happen in Accra today as was announced by the Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey during a media briefing.

According to the minister, Chairman of ECOWAS, President Akufo-Addo will be hosting an Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS authority of heads of state and government.

She indicated that the summit is to enable ECOWAS Heads of State and Government discuss issues in Guinea and how to resolve them.

Also, she explained how ECOWAS attempted to deal with the situation in Guinea that unfortunately resulted in the coup d’etat.

She then explained that a delegation of which she was a member was sent to Guinea by heads of state of ECOWAS countries to engage with all stakeholders and also with the now ousted President Alpha Conde but it didn’t turn out as expected.

ECOWAS as a regional body was criticized following that unfortunate development.
