The Ashanti Regional Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was held in Kumasi on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

Observations from the scene showed portraits of Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, who is expected to win the NPP’s Presidential primary, hung across the Garden City.

The portraits were unscripted “The Hope of Ghana: Alan Kyeremanten.”

“The Unifier: Alan Kyeremanten, Ye nim wo firi tete,” “Jobs4 the People, Cash4 the People: Alan Kyeremanten,”

“Next to Lead: Alan Kyeremanten, Ye nim wo firi tete.”

It was unclear what could have caused other potential candidates portraits to be largely missing. Nonetheless, reports showed that the majority of the delegates openly declared their unflinching support for the Trade and Industry Minister, who is regarded as a smart and time-tested politician capable of keeping the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in opposition for the next eight years.

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen is a Ghanaian politician, corporate executive, diplomat and international public servant who is specialized in global trade issues.

He was Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States and later Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development (PSD) and the Presidential Special Initiatives (PSI), under the President Kufuor-led NPP government.

He also served as a trade advisor at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he coordinated the African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC).

He is popularly called Alan Cash and was born on October 3, 1955.
