Kenneth Anarfi, 51, and Philip Chorkson, 37, have both been arrested for allegedly dealing in counterfeit cash.

On Friday, September 24, 2021, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs Unit, Greater Accra Regional Police Command, received a complaint that two suspects driving a Ford Pick Up Truck with registration number GE 9217-12 went to a shop in Tuba, a suburb of Accra, to purchase electrical cables and other items worth GH16,550.00.

She claimed they paid the same amount in dollars ($2,600), but the dollars were suspected to be counterfeit.

According to DSP Obeng, the Police launched a search for the suspects on Friday, October 22, 2021, at about 1400 hours, and they were apprehended and arrested near Tuba.

She went on to say that investigation had also confirmed their identities.

According to her, the Police discovered that suspect Philip Chorkson’s real identity is Francis Londiz.

DSP Obeng stated that a check at their residence yielded things such as deep freezers, air conditioners, TV sets, 39 litres of engine oil, bags of rice, tomato paste, and electrical wires.

Two computers, packs of nails, gas cylinders, false US Dollar bills, new head pans, frozen fish and poultry, and other substantial quantities of things thought to be proceeds of their fraudulent engagements, according to her.

DSP Obeng stated that the Police were extending an invitation to members of the general public, particularly those who had been victims of such crimes, to assist in identifying the suspects and providing relevant information to uncover the remaining components of the two suspects’ fraudulent operations.

The information might be sent through the Weija Divisional Police Command, the Accra Regional Police CID, and the Accra Police Public Affairs Unit, she stated.
