The Convention Peoples Party has insisted that it still upholds the Nkrumahist ideals the party is known for.

Reflecting on his 113th birthday which was commemorated on 21st September and what he achieved for Ghana as a country, General  Secretary of the CPP, Nana Yaa Jantuah in an interview on TV3 said “We live by his ideals though we need to repent of our ills as Dr Kwame Nkrumah did not deserve the way we treated him as a country,”  in a reflection on the way Nkrumah was overthrown.

Another offshoot of the Nkrumahist parties, the Peoples National Convention also commemorating the day of the man who constituted the arrowhead of Ghana’s independence struggle said they are also living by his legacies.

Madam Janet Nabila, General Secretary of the PNC recounted how Dr Kwame Nkrumah placed a premium on the underprivileged hence his establishment of young pioneers 1960 to instil patriotism, love and respect for the country despite criticisms that the movement is used as a spying mechanism on the elderly in that era.

On how to drive both the CPP and PNC to become a third political force in the country, Nana Yaa Jantuah stated that though the youth is attracted to the party, the Nkrumah message needs to be preached.
