Sam George pulls down post alleging ECG network was hijacked internally
The lawmaker for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Dzata out of assurances that the Electricity Company of Ghana is working to address the challenges with their system has taken down his earlier damming allegations against the ECG.
Also, the Deputy Ranking Member of the Communication Committee in Parliament stated that he did not compromise the “remedial steps” underway. He also indicated that this does not mean he would let his guard down concerning the matter to ensure that the country is not shortchanged.
“I have taken down my ECG post out of respect for the work I have just been informed is being done on the matter.
“I do not intend in any way to compromise the remedial steps underway. I can assure you all that I would continue to follow the matter and update the public on the actions taken to ensure such treachery against our Country NEVER happens again!
“For God and Country,” he concluded.
This follows his initial allegations against the ECG in which he said the ECG situation was being orchestrated by a ‘cabal of criminals ‘ within the company and called for a probe into the matter.
“The challenges with the ECG are extremely serious. The attack on their system was not external but carried out by a cabal of ‘criminals’ within the very same organisation.
The government MUST as a matter of urgency commence a forensic investigation of the IT department of ECG.
“My information points to a group that has been siphoning over GHS200 million every month! Yes, you read that right.
“What we are witnessing is an internal power play to cripple the new MD who has dared to open an investigation into these matters. The State security apparatus MUST with alacrity take this matter up and ensure the safety and protection of the MD and his team seeking to uncover the mess.
“The rot at ECG would make you sick if you truly love this Country and it is not about politicians here. It is Ghanaian citizens taking advantage of the citizens. We demand swift and immediate action!
“For God and Country,” he wrote.
For some days now, the ECG has been facing some network challenges with its prepaid metering system leaving clients struggling to get credit to top up their prepaid meters.
But the ECG in addressing the situation assured that the issue had been resolved in some parts of the country and credits were now available at the ECG office for purchase by the clients.
Working hours were also extended by the company to serve the customers facing such issues.
