As a means to restore some peace and tranquillity in Ghana’s legislative house, the leadership of the house has constituted a bipartisan committee to address the numerous disagreements arising from the 2022 budget.

Ten members from each caucus of the house are said to have constituted this committee to resolve the situation.

How the committee is supposed to go about their duties will be spelt out during today’s sitting on December 2 2021.

The other update is that despite the fierce debate and near scuffle, some committees’ being the Roads and Transport committee, Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary  Affairs committee in the house are said to have started consideration of the budget estimates for the 2022 fiscal year.

Also, some ministries expected to appear before the legislative house to defend their budgetary allocation for the 2022  fiscal year include Railway Development,  Roads and Highways, Transport, Food and Agriculture, Parliamentary Affairs and Office of the Attorney General.

The 2022 budget statement in Ghana’s legislature brought about a fierce debate. The Minority rejected the budget on Friday, November 26, 2021. The Majority overturned the decision of the Minority which was presided over by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin before approving it on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in a sitting presided over by the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu.

But this did not go down without a fight as the Minority sought to overturn the budget approval again but their request was quashed by the First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei Owusu which resulted in a whole confusion.

But to further ensure peace in the house, the committee was constituted with members from both sides and they include:

Majority Caucus
