A month-old baby boy has been discovered in Agbaflome – Bypass, a suburb of Akatsi in the Volta region’s Akatsi South Municipality.

Mr Atsu Joseph Dzineku, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that his unit received a distress call from one Dordoe Wisdom of Akatsi Agbaflome -Bypass at 1430 hours on Wednesday, and that at 1355 hours on the same day, he[Atsu Joseph Dzineku] received information from his wife that she had found a baby boy who had been abandoned in a bush closer to their house, located at the back of a new shopping mall in Akatsi

The Police Commander mobilized a team of Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) officers to the spot, where they saw the infant boy naked on a piece of cloth in a bush under a cassava tree sobbing aloud, “So, we picked him to a hospital in the Municipality, where he was examined and found to be stable and healthy,”

Mr Dzineku stated that the baby was being cared for at a health institution and that “the Social Welfare Department has been completely alerted for further action.”

As a result, they are asking individuals and members of the public to provide any essential information that will assist them in discovering the baby’s family.

Residents who spoke to the incidents according to GNA voiced concern that this was the second incident this year, after residents of Avetite, a suburb of Akatsi in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta region, discovered a two-month-old baby boy alive in an unfinished structure on April 7.
