North East: Man in Police custody for killing a farmer with a spear

A man identified as Njuagma Boto is currently assisting the Bunkpurugu District Police in an investigation for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old farmer by stabbing him with a spear.

Dubik Gnala, a 45-year-old farmer, was discovered in his room around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021.

According to a statement issued by ASP Robert Anabiik Angmain, the North East Public Relations Officer, the Police received a report from Francis Ntoriseb, Assembly Member for the Gbankpurugu Electoral Area, who reported that Njuagma Boto had accused the deceased farmer of attempting to poison him.

In the middle of the night, he broke into the farmer’s room and stabbed him to death with a spear.

A fresh wound on the deceased’s chest was discovered in a spool of blood when Superintendent Emmanuel Yao Gadikor led a squad of officers to the spot.

A blood-stained spear, believed to have been used in stabbing the deceased, was discovered next to him and was taken for further investigation.

The deceased’s body was transported to the Bindi Hospital mortuary, where the medical officer, Dr Emmanuel Yormesah, did a postmortem on him. The cause of death was “haemorrhagic shock and hemopneumothorax,” according to the medical team. The deceased farmer’s body was later released to his family for burial.

Njuagma Boto, the culprit was apprehended by the police with the help of members of the community. He’s been transported to the Bunkpurugu District Command for further questioning.

According to the Police, he will be arraigned after the investigation is completed.
