Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has revealed that the government is building some V-block schools to boost Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.

The minister revealed that the project is ongoing in 10 out of the 16 regions in Ghana with 56 schools completed. Some of the schools boarding facilities are being attached to them to make them attractive to attend.

Asked why the government took this venture, he indicated that these top-class schools that are being built in these areas will make STEM education attractive and interesting. They also, ease the pressure on the top 54 schools in Ghana which candidates prefer when they are writing their Basic Education Certificate Exams (BECE)

Unlike the erstwhile John Mahama administration which had the E blocks for Senior High Schools, the Akufo-Addo administration is venturing into V blocks to also help establish more senior high schools in the country.
