Ga West authorities sack food vendor from Pokuase Interchange, warns public against misuse of the structure

Authorities of the Ga West Municipal Assembly have sacked a food vendor on the new Pokuase Interchange. This was after a viral video of the food joint on the newly constructed interchange went viral on social media on 25th August 2021 causing uproar among Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, Mr Clement Wilkinson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ga West Municipal Assembly who also has oversight responsibility for the Ga North Municipal Assembly revealed in a statement on Wednesday that necessary steps have been taken to “prevent the said woman from carrying out such an illicit activity around the Interchange”.

He also cautions that “the public, and any person who plans or intends to engage or participate in such illegality around the bus stops, pavements and footbridges of the interchange, and also anyone who intends to paste posters and bills, to immediately desist from such acts or face the full rigours of the law.’’

“The public is also being reminded that the project is for everyone”, and thus encourages all and sundry to be citizens and not spectators so that the interchange can serve its intended purpose.

The Ghanaian public has criticized the Municipal authorities on social media after a video of a man assisting a female food vendor to pound fufu on the pavement of the newly constructed Pokuase interchange went viral.

While most comments on Facebook and Twitter have mocked the video, others have criticised the Municipal Assembly authorities for sleeping on their responsibilities.
