Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah during discussion on how to improve media content in Ghana has indicated that there will be a broadcasting bill laid before parliament after its recess.

This bill which will be laid in May is to further strengthen the regulation of various electronic media and to check some falling standards in recent times.

The Minister pointed out that the current broadcasting bill was done in 2012 and the new one to be laid is to include more media platforms.

He also clarified that this is not to stifle the media but to streamline how media content is regulated to affect society as well.

This bill was necessitated by the fact that in recent times there has been a critical look at some media which are purported to influence people badly in the society hence the introduction of this bill.
