Legislators in Ghana’s Parliament who double as Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the Akufo-Addo administration have been instructed by President Akufo-Addo not to embark on any trip outside the shores of Ghana for the next one month.

The reasons why the President issued out such a directive are not immediately known but according to some sources, it is a strategy from the Presidency where he wants all New Patriotic Party legislators to be present when the legislature commences the appropriation of budget estimates for 2022 fiscal year.

Though the budget has been approved, the circumstances that heralded its approval has kept members of both sides of the house on their toes with the Majority side especially the one needing to be present always to prevent the Minority from making any decisions that could obstruct the government’s plans.

Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu had threatened that his side would resort to headcount whenever the house needs to vote on anything due to the heavy-handedness from the Majority side regarding processes towards the approval of the budget.

The only exemption to this rule will be Ministers or Deputy Ministers who will need emergency medical attention.
