Actress and socialite Rosemond Brown, also known as Akuapem Poloo, had her prison sentence overturned by the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

She was instead fined 1000, 500, and 500 penalty units each for the three offences under which she was tried and sentenced to 90 days in prison. The total amount is GHS12,000.

An appeal filed by her counsel had previously been dismissed by the Court which meant the actress was to go back to prison to finish up with the 90-days sentence but the ruling together with the Accra Circuit Court ruling which sentenced her to the 90-day prison term has now been quashed.

She shared a nude photo that had herself and her 7-year-old son in the picture on social media in June 2020, she was sentenced to 90 days in prison by an Accra Circuit Court for publishing obscene content and disrespecting the dignity, and integrity of her seven-year-old son.

Her lawyers contested the decision, claiming it was overly punitive, despite the fact that she had completed a portion of her sentence. She was then granted GH80,000 bail pending the outcome of the appeal.

It will be recalled that on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the Court dismissed her appeal and ordered her to serve the remainder of her 90-day sentence. However, this latest decision will come as a big relief to the actress and her sympathizer who have along the line been wishing for her to be freed.
