Help Resolve Impasse Between Staff And Director – NLC To ECG Board
The National Labour Commission has urged that the Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana to try to resolve the impasse between the ECG staff Union and their Managing director Kwame Agyeman-Budu.
Executive Secretary of the NLC, Ofosu Asamoah indicated that should the ECG union fail to resolve the impasse, the NLC will be left with no option other than to constitute a compulsory arbitration panel to address the current ECG Impasse to prevent further protests.
The NLC’s advice is coming on the back of the recent protest against the Managing director of ECG Kwame Agyeman-Budu. The staff want him out of the organization and they outlined the reasons for their stance.
The NLC executive secretary revealed that they as an organization have declared May labour month. He stressed that they are going to embark on a vigorous education and sensitization on labour issues this month. For instance employees’ rights and their responsibilities at their various workplaces. Also, employers rights and their duties towards their employees at the various places of work to avoid unnecessary labour issues in the future.
