Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has reiterated calls for the youth to venture into entrepreneurship thus, supporting the call first made by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta during a graduation ceremony at the University of Professional Studies Accra. Ken Ofori-Atta had asked the youth to try that option while pointing out that the government’s purse is burdened and the payroll is also full cannot accept new entrants.

The finance minister assured that the government’s Obatanpa program will seek to create the enabling economic environment for that journey.

As entrepreneurship demands some amount of commitment and an enabling environment to flourish the information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah speaking on the sidelines of the Ghana Economic Forum, is optimistic that the government will create such an environment to make the business the youth want to venture into a success.

But Dr Lord Mensah of the University of Ghana Business School is also of the view not everyone can be an entrepreneur especially with how challenging that path is and even an entrepreneur at a point in time needs someone to help them manage the business.

At the moment the environment is not that friendly owing to the fact that economic indicators also do not support such young businesses to flourish and be successful.

He however hopes that the structures the government seeks to put in place will yield results to help make the youths’ entrepreneurial journey a fruitful one.
