“You’re legends”: Football world mourns JCCI FC bombing
Suspected terrorist attack in southern Somalia leaves some players of newly promoted club dead and several others injured
The football world has been thrown into a state of grief and mourning as a suspected terrorist attack in Somalia has led to the loss of lives and injury of many footballers.
According to reports, the newly promoted team were travelling in a bus in the southern city of Kismayo when the incident occurred. The bus exploded and burned as onlookers rushed to remove the injured and the dead.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack and there are divided opinions as some suspect it is a targeted attack whereas some think it could be a suicide attack.
The bus is said to be carrying at least 20 people when the attack occurred. There is no official communication from the Somali authorities but unconfirmed reports are stating a reported 4 deaths and 6 injuries.
