Sulley Muntari scores debut Hearts of Oak goal as Phobians beat WAFA
Hearts of Oak veteran midfielder Sulley Muntari opened his goal account for the defending Premier League champions with a goal in the side’s 2-1 win over the West African Football Academy.
The talismanic midfielder netted his debut goal from the spot-kick in the 75th minute to give his side the maximum points when WAFA goalkeeper Osei Binsu tripped Patrick Razak in the box.
Kwadwo Obeng Jnr shot the Phobians to the lead a minute after the start of the second half but it lasted less than 10 for WAFA to peg back through Henry Owari in the 55th minute.
The result lifted the Samuel Boadu-led side to fifth on the standings, 12 points behind league leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko while WAFA remain rooted in the relegation zone sandwiched between Eleven Wonders in 16th and Elmina Sharks in 18th positions.
Meanwhile, Sulley Muntari has left his doors open for a possible Black Stars return. He told reporters after the match against WAFA that anything is possible. This adds to the numerous calls many football fans have been making for his inclusion in the squad to play Nigeria later this month.
