Former Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has joined the list of people who thinks veteran midfielder Sulley Muntari should be called up for the upcoming world cup qualifiers against Nigeria.

There have been numerous calls for the Hearts of Oak midfielder’s inclusion in the squad following a string of scintillating performances put up by the former Inter Milan man since he signed for the Premier League champions.

And Tagoe who has played alongside Muntari in the national team thinks his inclusion goes beyond footballing reasons and thus should be considered by Otto Addo.

The former Hoffenheim striker told Angel FM “Every coach has his strategy, but I don’t know that of Otto Addo, if I were to be the coach of the Black Stars, I will just keep Sulley Muntari in the team for a certain reason. Maybe, there might be some difficulties in the course of the game where Muntari’s services will be needed.

He added his trust in the hard-tackling midfielder to add more to the team than football. “I believe in him and know what he can do. Inviting Muntari back into the Black Stars goes beyond footballing reasons.”

Meanwhile, another Black Stars player, Charles Taylor has asked the technical team to ignore Sulley for the games saying the player should focus on Hearts of Oak and gain match fitness so that he can be called when Ghana makes it to the World Cup.

According to the Hearts of Oak legend, “Sulley Muntari is not a Black Stars material for the Nigeria clash. We need serious players. He should focus on Hearts of Oak so he gains fitness. He can be called when Ghana qualifies for the World Cup.”

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the upcoming doubleheader against Nigeria in the World Cup qualifying playoff. The matches are scheduled for 25th and 29th March at the Cape Coast and Abuga stadiums respectively.
