Senegal to name final 26-man squad for World Cup
Senegal’s head coach Aliou Cisse is expected to name his final 26-man squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The Teranga Lions will be making their third appearance at the Mundial and will aim to go beyond their 2018 performance in Russia where they exited in the group stages.
In the squad, we expect notable names such as Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly of Chelsea as well as Iddrisa Gana Gueye and Abdou Diallo. Bouna Sarr, Keita Balde and Pape Abou Cisse to all be on the final list.
Aliou Cisse’s men will kick off their Group A campaign against the Netherlands on November 21 before taking on host nation Qatar four days later and then round up with a clash against Ecuador.
The final squad contains six of the 2018 squad members led by Sadio Mane, Iddrisa Gana Gueye, Cheikhou Kouyate, Ismaila Sarr Keita Balde and Kalidou Koulibaly. A majority, however, remain from the AFCON winning squad.
