Otto Addo names squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named his final 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with two players from the Ghana Premier League getting the nod to represent the nations.
Injured forced two goalkeepers Jojo Wollacot and Richard Ofori out of the squad with Danlad Ibrahim and Lawrence Ati-Zigi getting the nod to replace the duo.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh also makes the squad. Salis Mohammed and Kamal Sowah will look to make their debut appearance for the Black Stars after being named to the team.
Meanwhile, Daniel Kofi-Kyereh and Kamaldeen Sulemana have been able to pull through and make the squad after suffering different injuries with the clubs.
The biggest absentees are the two aforementioned goalkeepers, Jeffrey Schlupp and Majeed Ashimeru who many fans had clamoured for his inclusion.
Ghana will begin its campaign with a game on November 24 against Portugal before taking on South Korea four days later and then climaxing the group campaign with a clash against Uruguay on December 2. Ghana’s final preparatory game before the tournament is against Switzerland on November 17.
