Nico Williams named in Spain’s World Cup squad
Nico Williams has been included by Luis Enrique in Spain’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar which kicks off in nine days.
The 20-year-old Athletic Bilbao forward has been named in the squad despite making his international senior debut in September where he played twice against Switzerland and Portugal.
Nico Williams’s brother Inaki Williams has pledged his international future with Ghana despite playing for Spain in the past. The brothers are both likely to be in the World Cup if Inaki who has been included in Ghana’s provisional squad makes the grade to be in the final squad.
If the two brothers both make it to the tournament, it will be the second time two brothers are playing in the tournament for different countries. The first was when Kevin-Prince Boateng and his half-brother Jerome Boateng lined up against each other in Group D in South Africa 2010
