Manchester City left-back, Benjamin Mendy, 27, has officially been denied bail by Judge Patrick Thompson at a 50-minute hearing at the Chester Crown Court.

The French International has been in custody for about seven weeks following an alleged attack, on three different women including one under 18, in which none of them can be traced, incidents which are said to have happened at his home address on Withinlee Road in Prestbury, Cheshire.

Although the Premier League defender is yet to enter pleas to the charges of four counts of rape and one of sexual assault, he has already submitted three bail applications in his favour.

On  August 26, 2021, Mendy was charged with three counts of rape relating to an alleged incident in October 2020 and with the sexual assault of a woman in early January this year. He was also charged with raping a woman in August.

The France international has played for last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City since 2017, when he joined from Monaco for a reported £52m.

Following the outbreak of the bad news, the left-back was suspended by the club after being charged by Police, pending an investigation.

Meanwhile, the Chester Crown Court has set January 24, 2021, as the trial date.
