However, Dutch racer Max Verstappen who has just been discharged from hospital after being hospitalized for precautionary reasons following the collsion was furious with the turn of events. Though he could not speak directy to the media, his team Principal at Red Bull expressed the teams disappointment.

“Putting a fellow driver in hospital, writing off the car, and receiving a menial penalty and winning the grand prix doesn’t feel like much of a penalty,” Horner stated.

Verstappen is accusing Hamilton of delibrately causing the crash in order to have the chance to win the race. And his team believes same and feel it was a desperate act by the champion. “It’s just disappointing from a seven-time world champion that he makes such a desperate move and puts a fellow driver in hospital,” Horner added.

As Verstappen and team Red Bull expected a much harsher punishment for the Mercedes racer, there are many who think otherwise. The Silverstone event which saw 140,000 would go down as one in memory with the Verstappen-Hamilton clash being one of the major highlights.
