Mahama cheers Black Stars on against Brazil
Former President John Dramani Mahama has offered his support to the Black Stars of Ghana ahead of their pre-World Cup friendly match against Brazil today 23rd September.
President Mahama said, “Soccer matches between Ghana and Brazil are always exciting to watch. In today’s friendly at the senior level, the odds seem to favour the Brazilians, but I trust our gallant team, the Black Stars”.
He further assured supporters of the Black Stars of them[Stars] rising to the occasion since they are the underdogs. “They play best as underdogs, they will rise to the occasion and make us proud,” he said.
Mahama though a politician but is also a football fanatic, he is a supporter of Real Tamale United. He congratulated RTU on qualifying for the Premier League two seasons ago.
He paid a visit to the club and offered them a donation in cash.
“Between me and the NDC group in parliament led by leader Haruna [Iddrisu], we are going to make a donation of GH¢50,000 to RTU to prepare for the Premier League. And that’s not all; we’ll be following all of you guys who are managing the team and we’ll help you so that RTU reclaims its former glory,” he said.
In today’s clash between the Black Stars of Ghana and Seleção Canarinho of Brazil which kicks off at 6:30 pm, Mahama is full of confidence in the team and concludes on his Facebook post with the phrase “Go Black Stars Go!”.
