Liberty Professionals, two others to fight for Ashanti Gold Premier League slot
The Ghana Football Association has decided on a replacement for the Premier League spot left by demoted Ashanti Gold SC.
Three clubs from each of the three Division One zones will face off in a play-off to decide which team joins the 17 other clubs for the new season. Former Premier campaigners Liberty Professionals and Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC from Zone 3 and 2 respectively will slug it out against Tamale City from Zone 1 to decode the sole replacement for the Miners.
Each of the three teams finished as first-runner up in their zone with Tamale City falling off in a play-off against Nsoatreman in Accra.
Ashanti Gold was relegated alongside Division one side Inter Allies FC after they were found guilty of match-fixing in the 2020/21 season. Both clubs have been relegated to the lower leagues.
Meanwhile, Na God FC, Agbodga FC and Port City/Abuakwa Susubriri will also engage in a play-off to determine the replacement for Inter Allies who have been demoted to the third-tier competition.
