Jeffrey Schlupp secures draw for Crystal Palace against his former club

Ghanaian winger Jeffrey Schlupp has scored his first league goal of the season and that was also against his former side Leicester City. The winger needed not much time on the pitch to announce his presence after getting his name on the scoresheet seconds after coming on for Chelsea loanee Connor Gallagher.

The Ghanaian hobbled off injured during September’s international break and after returning as an 86th-minute substitute against Brighton and Hove Albion, he again was thrown into the mix in the second half when Palace was chasing an equalizer after trailing Leceister from the first half by two goals.

Another substitute, Michael Olise had halved the deficit for Palace after coming on for Jordan Ayew in the second half. With less than 20 minutes of normal time to play, Jeffrey Schlupp came on for Conor Gallagher. He wasted no time before registering his name on the scoresheet and pulling his side level with his header into the bottom corner.

He got another chance to secure the win for his side late on but his header, unfortunately, went wide after he connected to a corner by Olise. Schlupp will not travel with his international teammate Jordan Ayew for Ghana’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe this month and would have the opportunity to work towards regaining a starting berth in the Palace squad after the break.
