Gabaski was the best keeper at Afcon – Edouard Mendy
Senegal shot-stopper Edouard Mendy has revealed that he told Egypt’s goalkeeper Abou Gabal Gabaski that he [Gabaski] was the best at the tournament. Mendy was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper at the tournament after he helped his side to beat Egypt on penalties to lift the trophy with him saving one spot-kick to aid the process.
Mendy missed two matches due to Covid but came in to play five and kept three clean sheets and conceded two goals.
Gabaski also came in later during the tournament and made four total appearances, conceded one goal and saved eight penalties, including one at the final.
He said: “Gabaski is the best goalkeeper of the tournament, honestly.
“I spoke to him and I told him he deserves it [to win goalkeeper of the tournament]. And I was really impressed by his tournament.”
