The Ghana Football Association has said it has received a disciplinary decision from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) concerning a protest filed against two of the Ghanaian U-17 players in the controversial World Cup Qualifiers’ second leg that was played against Morocco in Rabat.

The decision bans Ghana from two consecutive U-17 World Cup qualifiers with a fine of 100,000 USD.

Reacting to the ban, GFA explained that it has earlier submitted a written defence to CAF which was not considered.

Elaborating on their next step, the association disclosed it has three (3) days to indicate its intention to appeal the decision and a further seven (7) days to send a written statement of appeal to the CAF Appeals Board.

A statement by the GFA Communications confirms it will study the full decision and respond with a written appeal accordingly.

Morocco controversially eliminated Ghana in the final round of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Ghana won the first leg 2-0 in Accra, but Morocco drew the tie and won on penalties in the second leg.

Morocco was accused by Ghana of frustrating them in Rabat.

The Black Maidens, during their second leg, said they were forced to hold their half-time meeting in the dressing room corridors after alleging that their room had been sprayed with chemicals.
