$140 million needed to construct facilities for 2023 All African Games – LOC Chairman
Ghana needs $140 million to construct enough facilities to host 2023 All African Games, the Local Organizing Committee chairman, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare has revealed.
The event which will host 53 African countries participating in multiple sports disciplines needs a lot of financial support and Ghana must be ready to put in that much investment to host a successful event in August next year.
“We are looking forward to getting the needed funding to get the job going to get the job done but funding doesn’t come from us it comes from Government…we are to have $140 million [from Ghana Government] going towards infrastructure”.
“That’s for infrastructure. We haven’t even looked at operational cost, procurement and what have you so a lot of money is involved if you are hosting the Games,” Dr Ofosu-Asare said while giving an update about the games.
