Former President  John Dramani  Mahama has slammed the governing New Patriotic Party for suggesting that he’s the one fueling a perception of hardship in the country.

He then reiterated his position that the poor management of the country under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, has led to unprecedented levels of hardship in the country.

This follows claims at a news briefing by NPP’s Director of Communication, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, that the country is in a good state, and that President Akufo-Addo is working hard to increase productivity and improve livelihoods.

Mr John Boadu opined that former President Mahama is rather spreading the falsehood that life is hard in the country and times are hard but in reality that is not the case as the NPP has done so well for Ghanaians.

“We are not frightened of John Mahama, we know he cannot manage the economy, so we can’t let him poison your minds because if you’re sitting your somewhere and they keep telling you it is bad, Ghana is hard, there is corruption, Ghana is hard; then sometimes, you think it’s true. So we have to speak back.”

Addressing a gathering of heads of local churches in Wa in the Upper West Region on Monday, August 23 as part of his ‘Thank You’ tour of the region, the former president questioned the reasoning behind the NPP’s insinuations. He wondered what “logic” they are using to arrive at the conclusion that he [Mahama] is the one fuelling the perceptions of hardship and corruption in the country.

“Times are hard even though, the New Patriotic Party, NPP still insists times are not hard and that I am the one giving Ghanaians the impression that times are hard. This makes me wonder what kind of logic they have that Ghanaians cannot feel hardship unless I come and tell them.”
