The opposition People’s National Convention (PNC )’s Executive Committee (NEC) has terminated the membership of 2020 Presidential Candidate David Apasera and National Chairman Moses Dani Baah for “disregarding the PNC’s constitution.”

Mr Apasera and Dani Baah had improperly conveyed a Standing Committee meeting on Saturday, May 7, 2022, according to a statement issued after the end of the NEC meeting on Thursday, May 12, 2022, and that violated the party’s constitution’s Article 14(a).

The communique issued by the members of NEC indicated that “The said meeting was attended by some members of the party despite an official caution from the party leadership”.

As a result, all 12 members present, including First Vice-Chairperson Hajia Hajara Ali and Third Vice Chairperson Alhaji Omar Bekure, as well as National Organiser Abass Nuhu, have been asked to step aside “waiting for a disciplinary hearing”.

This is the second time Mr Apasera and Dani Baah have been kicked out of the party in less than a year. The duo was earlier fired in September of 2021 due to misconduct and financial embezzlement.

As a result, they went to court where they were told to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution methods.

The NEC met to make the decision on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
