Ofosu-Ampofo lists people who support his re-election bid, an 80-year-old woman offers GH₵5000
Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has urged people to continue to support his re-election bid as he seeks to retain the position and lead the party to victory in 2024.
Addressing the media at an event to file his nomination, the former Eastern Regional Minister listed some of the people who have come out to support his campaign and that include a teacher from the Eastern Region, an octogenarian from Tema and a man of God.
He said the teacher called and wanted to see him and he arrived and introduced himself as a teacher, he[Chairman] was wondering how the teacher was going to support him since teachers are not well paid in the country but to his shock, the teacher had something else.
According to him, the teacher said he “contested for Deputy Constituency Organizer and fortunately, I have been declared unopposed so all the monies that I have kept to do my campaign is GH₵5000 so I’ve travelled all the way to come and give it to you because I believe in your leadership and your good work”.
“Secondly, an 80-year-old woman from Tema came to my house three days ago, very old and I asked what brought you here and she said ‘I want to come and help your campaign’.” According to Chairman Ampofo, “she rented an Uber to come. She held in her hand a Bible, another religious book and…..GH₵5000 and some packs of oats and said, ‘Chairman, this is my contribution towards your campaign”.
The last one, he said was when he was on his way coming to the programme that a Reverend minister texted him and said he wants to support his campaign and said it is on his heart that even if it is GH₵1.00 he will use to support because he knows Ofosu-Ampofo is fighting a good cause.
