NDC announces timetable for branch elections in readiness for 2024

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Aseidu Nketia has officially announced the timetable for the kick-off of the party’s internal elections for branch executives on July 13, 2022, at the NDC headquarters, Adabraka.

According to him, the selection of leaders within the NDC is done in a transparent way, hence, they have decided to spend more time and effort in this branch election other than in the previous ones.

Addressing the media, the General Secretary declared that, the branch election has been segmented into three(3) which will comprise the first, second and third zone.

He further explained that the first zone will consist of the Northern Region, North East Region, Savanna and Upper West Region. There will be a 2-day exhibition of the register between the 20th and 21st of July which will enable members to crosscheck their names, ID numbers and other details. The 22nd to 23rd of July will be for filing nominations. 24th and 25th July is scheduled for vetting of nominees and 26th July will be set aside for receiving and dealing with appeals, then between 27th July and 2nd, August is when the actual elections for the first zone will be held.

The second zone will comprise the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Western and Western North regions. Exhibition of the register will be held from 24th to 25th July, nominations filing is on 26th to 27th July, appeals will be dealt with on the 30th of July and the elections within the second zone is between 31st July and 4th August.

The final zone which is the third zone consists of the Central Region, Volta, Oti and Greater Accra Regions. The exhibition of the register within these regions is between 28th and 29th July. Filing of nominations is on the 30th and 31st July, 1st and 2nd of August for nominee vetting while 3rd August has been set aside for appeals and between the period of 4th to 9th August, elections will take place in the zone.

He then concluded that, due to strategic reasons and purpose, the Ashanti and Eastern Regions have been reserved. The exhibition of the register within these two regions will be on the 21st to 22nd of August and whereas the 23rd and 24th are for filing of nominations, the 25th and 26th will cater for vetting of nominees, 27th August for appeals and the election period will be from 28th to 3rd September, 2022.
