Maverick politician and Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region Mr Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has said he is ready to sponsor former President John Mahama’s campaign for him to win the 2024 flagbearer of his party [NDC].

According to him, the former President is a weak candidate as he will make the NPP’s 2024 ‘breaking the 8 agenda’ easier.

Chairman Wontumi made this known during a discussion on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme when he argued that the former President is much hungry for power and thus is doing everything possible to win the 2024 elections.

“The former president is no match for us, I will like to sponsor his campaign for his re-election bid as Flagbearer for his party.

“The New Patriotic Party has a master plan for the ‘breaking the 8 agenda’ of the party and the only person who will help execute the agenda is former president John Dramani Mahama.

“I know the former president is not broke but I will definitely sponsor his campaign for his re-election as the flagbearer for the party which I know when he wins, it is going to be very easy for the NPP to win the 2024 elections no matter who the party will field as a candidate for the 2024 elections,” he added.

Nevertheless, the former president John Dramani Mahama has not made any comment regarding his second coming to contest and lead his party the National Democratic Congress, he is embarking on a ‘Thank You’ tour and meeting with party faithful across the country.

The former President as part of his nationwide ‘Thank you tour’ visited the Ashanti region on Sunday, September 12.

The two-day tour of the Region will mark the end of the second phase of his tour, which is meant to express gratitude to his supporters and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the votes in the December 7, 2020 elections.

The first phase of the tour began in August with a resumption on Tuesday, September 7 in the Bono East Region.
