Do not push your personal pledges down our throat – Haruna Attah cautions Akufo-Addo
Ghana’s former High Commissioner to Namibia and astute journalist Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Haruna Attah has taken a swipe at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his resolve to build a national cathedral.
Ambassador Haruna Atta describes the building of the national cathedral as an unconstitutional and ‘’Christocentric’’ thing and not a national thing. What if a Buddhist also becomes a president and decided to also build a temple? He quizzed.
He further added that “he the president has no right to use his personal pledges to God to hold the country to ransom” stating that Ghanaians should not allow politicians to take advantage of them and get away with it.
Ambassador Haruna Atta added that in the running of the state, churches and mosques do not come in, thus building a Cathedral should not be a national issue.
The building of the National Cathedral which started some years ago has raised a lot of arguments and conversations among the citizenry especially after the National Chief Imam also donated an amount to help build the cathedral.
