President Akufo-Addo’s unwillingness to reshuffle his ministers has left legislator for Noth Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disappointed and he has concluded that the president is not abreast with the realities on the ground.

Reacting to Akufo-Addo’s praise and commendation for his Ministers and subsequently shooting down the idea of reshuffling, he slammed the president stating that he[president] is living in a world of his own.

Touching on the issue at hand during an interview on Citi TV, he said “Is President Akufo-Addo living in a reality, or he is in a bubble? He has lost touch,”

Mr Ablakwa gave an instance where in a fellow African country, Malawi, President Lazarus Chakwera, revoked the appointment of his entire cabinet due to corruption-related issues.

The legislator bemoaned how issues regarding corruption brought up against members of the Akufo-Addo government are treated with kids’ gloves,

Citing the alleged Sputnik V scandal which involved Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Mr Ablawka said the President only insulted Ghanaians “by going to his [Agyemang-Manu’s] constituency to defend publicly a corrupt Health Minister”.

Another instance where according to Mr Ablakwa necessitated a reshuffling was the downgrade of Ghana’s credit ratings again from B-B’ to CCC+C with a negative economic outlook, from the Standard and Poor’s rating firm.

“This is a situation that calls for a president to act like the Malawian President and fire his entire cabinet and bring a new team with fresh ideas because we are in crisis,” the legislator added.
