YouTube Suspends TB Joshua Over Gay Cure
YouTube has suspended the account of renowned Nigerian televangelist Prophet TB Joshua over gay and lesbian cure.
The renowned man of God and televangelist of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet TB Joshua’s YouTube account has been suspended over some videos shared on the channel. Report from Premium Times indicates that, between 2016 and 2020, the channel posted at least seven clips showing the charismatic Christian televangelist engaging in violent exercise to ‘cure’ gay and lesbian congregants of their sexual orientation by casting out “the demons of homosexuality and lesbianism”.
The decision was arrived at after a right group filed a complaint against the man of God after reviewing seven videos on his channel that showed the Prophet conducting prayer to ‘cure’ gay people.
YouTube suspended the channel which has more than 1.8 million subscribers on April 12, 2021, a YouTube spokesperson said. Facebook according to a report has also served a similar warning to the televangelist and have taken down one of the videos. In the said video, a woman was slapped with the preacher claiming he is casting out a ‘demonic spirit’ from her.
Meanwhile, a statement from Emmanuel TV, a TV channel owned by the televangelist and the operators of the YouTube channel has in a statement said they have a “long and fruitful relationship with YouTube” and believe the decision was made in a haste.
