WAEC cancels two papers, reschedules them for another day
The West African Examination Council has cancelled two of its examination papers and rescheduled them for another day.
Some students were expected to write Physics and Business Management papers today. But the papers were called off by WAEC and rescheduled for a later date without exact reasons being given.
However, the examination body has said that it has detected evidence of leakages of some papers on social media and on fake websites prior to today’s exams.
Speaking on the issue, Mr George Ohene-Mantey who is the Council’s head of Test Administration Division said, “the council’s monitoring revealed the circulation of numerous versions of questions, both printed and handwritten.” He added that the English language and Mathematics papers had questions circulating on social media.
He assured that WAEC will continue to be very vigilant in order to ensure the credibility of the exams whiles claiming that “the circulation was not extensive.”
It will be recalled that the Africa Education Watch, a Non-Governmental Organization led by Kofi Asare was caught up in a feud with the WAEC after the former alleged that the Food and Nutrition Paper 3 (Practical) was leaked and claimed it had confirmed from WAEC that they’re genuine.
A claim which the latter through the head of the Ghana Council for WAEC denied in a Press Conference and described as “untrue, is misleading and is creating anxiety among the candidates and our public.”
