Stop Building Along Waterways – Minister Cautions
Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member for Ayawaso Central Hon Henry Quartey has cautioned people building on waterways in Accra especially in the Sakumono community.
This word of caution was made during an interview on Accra based Peace Fm on the assessment of his work in the capital city so far.
His worry is the building of houses on waterways and Ramsar sites that lead to flooding and is one of the major contributors to flooding in Accra. And the memories of the June 3rd twin disaster brings sends cold shivers to one’s mind.
The minister revealed that for ongoing buildings on such sites, a court injunction has been secured to halt such projects.
He further indicated that he is not perturbed and deterred but will forge ahead in his work despite the toes he will step on and has warned that he will not accept any bribe that will dent his work.
