Stakeholders in the media have been engaged in a forum with regards to broadcasting contents in Ghana.

Chairman of the National Media Commission Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo who supported the forum was of the view that engaging in a frank dialogue can help in the proper regulation of broadcasting in Ghana.

Mr Ayeboafo revealed that attempts to engage those media houses engaged in bad broadcasting practices turned out that they are not members of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA). That he says is resulting in their refusal to heed the directives.

He indicated that should parliament resume they must be made to understand the reasons for the urgency of the broadcasting law to be passed .

Minister for communication and digitization Madam Ursula Owusu Ekuful also gracing the occasion said such a forum is long overdue and underscored the importance of passing this law. She said it all depended on practitioners to find what best practices to follow and legalize. Also, she urged practitioners to search for best practices around the world and learn from them.

Attorney General and Minister for Justice Mr Godfred Dame was also of the view that with the evolution of the media there is the need for some form of regulation and supported that their deliberation comes to fruition.
