Show us what you did for the region – Asantehene as Akufo-Addo to show work
Despite the criticisms of his government’s poor handling of the illegal mining menace, President Akufo-Addo has insisted he is on top of issues regarding the fight.
He could, however, not gloss over how government moves regarding the menace have steered the national conversation in a new direction.
While paying a courtesy call on the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during his four-day tour of the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo affirmed his resolve to rid the country of illegal mining.
He expressed joy that the nation’s attention had been drawn to the issue as he believes that would aid in the fight.
President Akufo-Addo seized the opportunity to debunk the notion that, the Ashanti Region has not received its fair share of the national cake.
The Asantehene in turn asked President Akufo-Addo to open up to residents of the region about what the government has so far done for the Ashanti Region.
The president on the first day attended church service at St Cyprian Anglican church in the Subin Constituency.
He will inspect the work done so far on the Boankra Inland Port Project and then commission the Konongo Municipal Hospital in the Asante Akyem Central Constituency.
The Agenda 111 Hospital Project at Kokoben and the commissioning of the 30kv Kumasi-Bolgatanga Transmission line are on the radar of the president.
